During the Opening Event of our next exhibition “Schwarmerei Members Show 2018” we are excited to welcome Didier Kisala and Ahmed Magare to Ort Gallery for an intimate live performance.
Following on from a successful Refugee Week full of exciting events, Celebrating Sanctuary Birmimgham will host a performance by local refugee and migrant artists.
Didier Kisala – singer / songwriter and founder member of Birmingham based Congolese band The Redeemed. Didier brings his beautiful and soulful vocal performance with an acoustic set by members of the Rddeemed. Recent collaborations include “The Froe”, “Culture Dub Orchestra” and ground-breaking concept album “The Long Road”, involving some of the UK’s top musicians and internationally acclaimed artists.
Ahmed Magare – Somali born fine artist, poet and spoken word artist, who spent time in Holland before settling in the UK and completing his Fine Art BA (Hons) at Birmingham City University. Ahmed will perform poems from his recently published book,”When Heroes Hide Behind Curtain Ropes”.
