Hamara Ghar / Amar Ghor

by Nilupa Yasmin

15th July - 30th September 2023

Ort Gallery in partnership with Moseley Road Baths and Tickertape Parade presents Hamara Ghar / Amar Ghor.

Hamara Ghar / Amar Ghor which translates to ‘Our Home’ in Hindi / Urdu / Sylheti is a living room installation inspired by and paying tribute to the local neighbourhood of Balsall Heath. This installation will feature artwork by local artist Nilupa Yasmin which she produced as part of an RND project she undertook with Ort Gallery in 2020 called, ‘Say Something In Your Language’ exploring gratitude and honouring her mother tongue, Bangla.

This exhibition stems from the Balsall Heath Living Room Project – a co-designed and immersive experience taking place in the iconic Gala Pool of Moseley Road Baths. The space will be reimagined as Balsall Heath’s Living Room featuring installations from Friction Arts as well as Flatpack Festival

Balsall Heath’s Living Room Project is part of the Diving In Programme funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund
